No real estate agent wants to imagine it—a complaint, or worse, a lawsuit. However, sometimes even the most experienced agents can find themselves involved in a legal dispute.
At Locations, we equip our agents for the best while preparing them for the worst. To that end, we offer:
- Lowest Errors and Omissions (E&O) insurance premiums in Hawaii
- Rebates for a “no-claims” year
- Self-managed legal defense fund
- Monthly risk management training and workshops
- Support of sales coaches and brokers-in-charge
Our plan includes up to $2M in coverage, plus $250,000 for claims related to the Fair Housing Act, a lockbox event, mold disclosure, open house liability or pollution disclosure.
If an agent is unlucky enough to have a case go to court, legal fees could easily top $150,000. With Locations self-funded and self-managed E&O coverage, our agents will never be on the hook for more than $1,500.
Locations Legal Defense Fund
Our self-managed legal defense fund offers agents both preventative assistance and resolution assistance.
To help agents prevent a claim, we offer:
- Guidance and counsel
- Management support and strategy
- Legal Defense Fund Advisory Board
If an agent requires assistance defending a claim, we offer support for:
- Lawsuits, mediation and arbitration
- Regulated Industries Complaints Office (RICO) complaints
- Code of Ethics complaints
We reward good business
At Locations, it pays to dot your i’s and cross your t’s—literally.
We reward agents who have a “no claims” year with up to $200 off their annual E&O premiums. It’s our way of showing our agents that we appreciate their diligence, professionalism and commitment to their clients’ best interests.
We promote best practices
As the old adage goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Likewise, it’s easier to avoid legal woes altogether than it is to fight them.
We recommend agents take the following steps to help ensure that they don’t end up in hot water:
- Have all contracts reviewed prior to presenting to client.
- Put everything in writing and use the Purchase Contract manual.
- Attend all Locations workshops and monthly in-person Sales Meetings, which always include a Risk Management topic.
- Be familiar with and follow company policies.
Take a look at your current E&O expenses, coverage and legal support, and then compare them with the benefits Locations offers its agents. If you’re overpaying, not receiving support or not being rewarded for your no-claims track record, it’s time to talk to a Locations agent.
